URO, Vehiculos Especiales, S.A. (UROVESA) is a Spanish heavy vehicle manufacturer based in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia. It is best known for the production of the URO VAMTAC , a Humvee-like four-wheel drive motor vehicle, and URO trucks.
UROVESA , was founded in 1981 by a group of former employees of IPV . For 1983 they managed to position themselves as leaders in the sector of cars 4x4 for fire fighting in rural environments, thanks to its truck TT URO, also thanks to these became one of the leading builders Spanish of trucks.
Since 1984 , are the official suppliers of the Spanish Army, by the way of winning the competition "Statement of Needed Uniformity." Currently, the armed forces of Spain have more than a thousand vehicles of this brand, highlighting among them the VAMTAC (Vehiculo de Alta Movilidad Tactico).
