Saab Group (originally Svenska Aeroplan AB, later SAAB and Saab AB) is a Swedish aerospace and defence company, founded in 1937.
From 1947 to 1990 it was the parent company of automobile manufacturer Saab Automobile.
Between 1968 and 1995 the company was in a merger with commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania-Vabis , known as Saab-Scania.
The two were de-merged in 1995 by the new owners, Investor AB.
Despite the demerger, both Saab and Scania share the right to use the griffin logo , which originates from the coat of arms of the Swedish region of Scania.
In 1968 Saab AB merged with the Swedish lorry, bus and heavy-duty diesel engine manufacturer Scania-Vabis, and became Saab-Scania AB.
In 1990 General Motors bought 51 percent of the car division Saab Automobile, and acquired the rest a decade later.
From 1998 until 2005 the largest shareholder in Saab was the British aerospace company BAE Systems.
Saab-Scania SBAT 111S
The Scania SBA111 , designated Terrangbil 30 (Tgb 30), is a military all-wheel drive cross-country truck designed and manufactured by Scania division of Saab-Scania for the Swedish Armed Forces. Full name is Special Bulldog Allwheeldrive, generation 1, 11-liter diesel engine.
Scania SBAT111S designated Terrangbil 40 (Tgb 40) is a larger version, sporting three-axle, all-wheel drive. Full name is Special Bulldog Allwheeldrive Tandem, generation 1, 11 liter Supercharged dieselengine.
Terrangbil 30/40 (Tgb 30/40) ar en av de vanligaste lastbilsversioner inom Forsvarsmakten. De tva versionerna har varit i tjanst inom Forsvarsmakten sedan 1975. Vanligtvis kallas den bara 30-bil eller 40-bil.
The Scania SBA 111 is a series of Cold War era medium trucks of Swedish origin. They were developed in the late 1960's for a Swedish army requirement. The name SBA stands for Special Bulldog Allwheeldrive. The 6x6 SBAT model adds Tandem to the abbreviation.
Bilarna byggdes for att koras i mycket olandig terrang (cross-country) med specifikationskrav pa 60% (31 grader) stigning och 40% (22 grader) sidlutning med full last. Med en frigangshojd under axlarna pa 40 cm, 45 graders frigangsvinklar fram och bak mojliggjordes att man kunde klattra over 60 cm diagonala hinder och vada i 80 cm djupt vatten. Vaxelladan bestar av en 6-stegs automatlada med 2-stegs fordelningsvaxellada, tva kraftuttag och mojlighet till maxhastighet pa upp till 90 km/h. Tgb 30 har en vinsch med 60 m vinschlina och 9 tons dragkraft pa enkel part. Tgb 40 har en vinsch med 50 m vinschlina och 11 tons dragkraft pa enkel part. Begard konstruktionslivslangd sattes till 100 000 km. Bilarna skulle besta av sa manga Scania standardartiklar som mojligt. Raknat pa artikelnummer blev det over 70 %. Sinsemellan var Tgb 30 och 40 lika till 90%. Storsta skillnaden for Tgb 40 ar en axel mer, langre hjulbas och flak, lastformaga samt overladdningsaggregat pa motorn som ger hogre effekt. Extra utrustning inkluderar personalhytt och 1,2 tm, elhydraulisk eller 55 tm, hydraulisk lastkran.
